Mezzo-soprano Rachel Calloway holds degrees from The Juilliard School (BM) and the Manhattan School of Music (MM). She is an Instructor of Voice at USC, and serves as Associate Director of Spark, the School of Music’s Music Leadership Laboratory.
Calloway has appeared in leading roles with Opera Philadelphia, Gotham Chamber Opera, and Glimmerglass Opera. She has appeared with the Amernet Quartet, Third Coast Percussion, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. She has recorded with Albany Records, Tzadik Records, BCMF Records, and Toccata Classics.
This year, she performs with the Orlando Philharmonic, November Music in the Netherlands, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Art Institute of Chicago, and will continue her collaboration with the Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music. At USC, Calloway will sing Ravel’s Shéhérazade and a world premiere David Garner selection. Calloway and violinist Ari Streisfeld will present their collaborative work, Duo Cortona, at USC, Concerts at the Hammer (UCLA), Kansas University, the University of Miami, and Delaware Valley Community College.
